14-day tour in Colombia
Colombia is an economic destination that allows you to live great adventures. Breathtaking Andean peaks, Amazon rainforests, tropical beaches, archaeological sites and charming colonial cities, Colombia brings together everything South America has to offer in one country.
The fabulous hospitality of Colombians is remarkable and you will feel it as soon as you arrive. Due to a marked improvement in security, Colombia has been able to rise from the ashes like a phoenix. Colombia is working hard to restore its image and its people will do their best to make you leave the country with a different feeling than you had when you arrived. Colombia has seen an increase in the number of visits since 2007 (from 1,000,000 to 3,500,000 visits). This brings new income to Colombian families and helps reduce the gap between the poor and the rich. Your trip to Colombia will certainly contribute to improving the quality of life of this warm population who have faced many challenges throughout their history.
Our tour takes place on the Caribbean coast which covers the northern part of the country. This tour offers a perfect mix of wild beaches, rainforests, mountains and culture. I promise you exhilarating sensations and a great sense of security.
The two-week itinerary covers four destinations:
Cartagena:
The walled city of Cartagena and the artistic district Getsemani will leave you under the spell! Cobbled streets, flowery balconies, color, life, art, restaurants and bars to the taste of the day, imposing churches and small shaded squares more romantic than the others. Cartagena will not leave anyone indifferent, it is a work of art on every street corner! And what about the life that is found there, you will have an immersion of culture assured!
Playa Costeño:
Playa Costeño is a safe and uncrowded beach that offers only a handful of small quality hostels. You will live there to the rhythm of nature and far from mass tourism. The perfect stop after the hectic life and crowds of Cartagena. The sea is powerful at this place and the surrounding vegetation is lush. The hostels located there are built in harmony with nature and offer several authentic excursions. Playa Costeño allows you to feel like Robinson Crusoe while having great comfort at a low price… Resourcing guaranteed!
Parque Nacional Natural Tayrona :
This park of 12,000 acres of land and 3,000 acres of coral-rich sea offers idyllic beaches and a vast, safe and well-landscaped trail system. You will find beaches that are among the most beautiful in the country. The wild aspect of the beaches and the non-abundance of tourists on some of them will make you feel like an explorer in search of the absolute!
In the background stand the rugged mountains of the Sierra Nevada, the highest coastal massif in the world. Waterfalls, mountainous landscapes, rainforests and wild beaches will make your hikes majestic. A safe immersion in the heart of the rainforest with the cry of howler monkeys in the background. An experience that will certainly transport you!
Minca:
Small village perched at 600 meters above sea level in the Sierra Nevada. Minca is a destination for nature lovers. Here you can take breathtaking hikes on vertiginous peaks, swim in tropical waterfalls, visit coffee farms and discover rich and abundant fauna and flora. You will have the choice of a central accommodation in the village or a remote accommodation in the middle of nature. The population is warm and seems visibly happy to meet the visitors. Transport and visits are done either on foot by 4×4 or by motorcycle (with a driver or not). Mica offers breathtaking sunsets over the Sierra Nevada, some of the most beautiful I have had the chance to admire! A stay on the Andes Cordillera that will allow you to live unforgettable adventures.
Additional destinations for trips longer than two weeks :
Islas Rosarios :
This archipelago located about 35 km from Cartagena consists of 27 small coral islands surrounded by crystal clear and turquoise water. The entire area is a national park. The two largest islands of the archipelago are Isla Grande and Isla del Rosario. Imagine small islands without a car, with trails that lead to tropical beaches with turquoise waters, eco-responsible accommodation on a human scale and a panoply of activities that allow a great contact with nature. A stay in the Rosario Islands is a return to the roots and a moment of relaxation assured.
The Lost City of the Tayronas :
One of the largest pre-Columbian cities known throughout the American continent and the most popular great hike in Colombia! The Lost City emerged in the forest at the time of the Spanish conquest and was only rediscovered in the 70s. Buried in the Sierra Nevada, it is only accessible on foot through a breathtaking trail.
Six accredited and security agencies accompany travellers on tours of 4 to 6 days to the ruins. You don’t have to be particularly experienced to do the hike.
Colombia is a perfect destination for budget travellers. Depending on the season, it is possible to enjoy this two-week itinerary with a minimum budget of $2000-2500 per person for a couple. This amount includes flying, accommodation, transportation, food and some activities.
